Is Camp Mack open year round?
Yes! Camp Mack is open year round to host lots of events of our own and host guest groups.
Can I bring my own firewood?
Camp provides firewood at our designated campfire circles. If you are planning to use a fire circle, please inquire with the Guest Services Director so that a circle can be assigned to your group and our Facility staff will stock it with firewood, matches, and camp’s homemade fire starters. We ask that wood not be brought into camp to prevent the spread of invasive insects.
How will I know what to do for emergencies and who to call when I’m at Camp Mack?
There will be welcome signs and letters posted in your spaces. Reference those for information on what to do in emergencies, who to call when the office is closed (on-call staff details), other guests who are onsite, dining information, and more.
Is Camp Mack associated with a church?
Camp Mack is its own organization; however, it is affiliated with and has roots in the Church of the Brethren, a Protestant peace church. Though this is the case, those beyond the Church of the Brethren are welcome to come to Camp Mack. Many outside of the Church of the Brethren use this sanctuary space for their retreats and events. We welcome you.
Does Camp Mack provide any first-aid?
Guest groups should have someone onsite with them to provide first aid needs (including but not limited to band-aids, medicine, wraps, etc.).Camp Mack is not responsible for first-aid.
Where should I park at Camp Mack?
Vehicles should be parked in designated parking areas, typically the gravel lots in front of or beside the buildings and lodges. For larger events, the grassy areas north of John Kline Welcome Center and Quinter Miller Auditorium are designated parking lots. Please do not park in the grassy field north of the letter cabins, east of John Kline Welcome Center. We also ask that you not park along the driveways in areas that will block traffic. If you have any questions please contact the office or stop in when you first arrive.
Can I send mail to Camp?
Yes! We receive mail for Camp Mack and guests at Camp Mack. Please send mail to PO Box 158, Milford, IN 46542. If you are sending larger packages that need the physical address, please send them to 1113 E Camp Mack Rd, Milford, IN 46542.
Does Camp Mack have air conditioning and heating?
Some buildings at Camp Mack have HVAC systems. Ulrich Lodge, Wampler Retreat Center, and the John Kline Welcome Center all have air conditioning and heating. Sarah Major Lodge is heated, and in the summer, the main floor lodging rooms often have window air conditioner units installed (the building’s current electrical structure cannot support air conditioners in all of the rooms, but we do provide large fans in the building to help circulate air, and new windows were installed recently to increase air flow). The W Cabins have heat, though the restrooms do not. Mission Village’s Crumpacker yurt has a heater and the bathrooms are heated. A space heater is provided in each of the yurts used for sleeping. The E Cabins and Letter Cabins do not have any air conditioning or heating (nor do their restrooms).
What is the speed limit at Camp?
There is a 9 M.P.H. speed limit on Camp’s grounds.
Are drugs, alcohol, or smoking allowed at Camp Mack?
Camp Mack is an alcohol- and drug-free facility. During the summer, we are also a non-smoking facility (including e-cigarettes).
Are pets allowed at Camp Mack?
Only service animals are permitted on Camp property. Emotional support animals and pets are not permitted at Camp.
A possible boarding option: The Dog House Syracuse kennel is less than 10 minutes from Camp Mack [9326 N 500 E, Syracuse, IN 46567; (574) 834-1818].
Are children welcome at every Camp Mack event?
It’s great to have children at Camp! Adult supervision of children is required at all times. If you are coming with a group, check their requirements or policies. If you are coming for a specific Camp Mack event, check any age restrictions on our website or contact the office.
While staying at Camp Mack, who do I contact if I need something?
There will be office staff in the office for at least a portion of your stay. You may reach out to them with needs or questions. See your welcome sign for more information on office availability.
Camp Mack has staff on call 24 hours a day, and you may reach out to them for maintenance, housekeeping, emergencies, or other needs. These are posted at each of the lodges in two places on the wall near the entrance (on a laminated sheet and on your welcome letter). These are also posted on the front door of the John Kline Welcome Center. If the request is not an immediate need, please contact the Camp Mack office during business hours.
If the Guest Services Coordinator has directed you to reach out to her/him, you may do so, as well.
May I launch my own boat at Camp Mack?
If you bring your own boat to Camp, you may go down to the public beach less than a mile down the road to launch your own boats. This is for insurance, liability, and safety reasons. We do not have a regular boat launch that you can pull up to with a vehicle.
If you would like to schedule a boating session to use Camp Mack’s boats (row boats, canoes, and kayaks), you may schedule this with the Guest Services Coordinator at least 3 weeks in advance.
Can our group have the gift shoppe open during our stay?
Likely yes! We enjoy opening the gift shoppe for groups, but it is much easier to do so if you book this in advance so that we can schedule someone to run the gift shoppe. Please coordinate a time or times with the Guest Services Coordinator 2 or more weeks in advance.
Last-minute requests may or may not be able to be accommodated.
May I bring in my own sports equipment?
Camp has a large variety of sports equipment that is available for guests to use. Please contact the Guest Services Coordinator to see what is available and our policies for outside equipment usage.
Can my group set off fireworks at Camp?
Fireworks are not permitted at Camp Mack.
Can I bring a handgun to Camp?
It is best to leave these at home, please.
All guns brought on site must be licensed.
All handguns and firearms brought on site must stay out of sight in a locked vehicle and may not be removed and used while at Camp Mack.
If a gun is seen, you may be asked to leave the premises.
Is Camp Mack handicap accessible?
There are several places around Camp that are handicap accessible. Much of the John Kline Welcome Center is accessible. Contact the Guest Services Coordinator or the office to inquire about other spaces or specific needs.
What lake is Camp Mack on?
Camp Mack is located along Waubee Lake. The lake is 187 acres and has a maximum depth of 51 feet. It is a low wake lake and is not used for speed boats. We have neighbors that use pontoons, fishing boats, kayaks, and more. Waubee Lake is one of the clearest lakes in Indiana.
The lake does have zebra mussels present, so we recommend using water shoes during lake activities.
What happens if people in my group have abused or vandalised Camp in some way?
Please let us know right away what has happened.
Guests assume financial responsibility for damages due to abuse or vandalism. The amount will be added to your final bill or as an additional bill.
I lost something at camp; do you still have it?
Maybe. After 1 month, items may be donated. Certain items are not kept. You are welcome to reach out to the camp office to check. If you know of a specific location it may have been left, please let Camp know.
